Happy November Kindergarten Families!  We have a busy month!  Check your calendars daily for upcoming events and activities.  Here are this week's announcements:

*Our chapel honoring Veterans is on Tuesday at 9:00.  This is a very special chapel and we hope to see our military there so we can honor them and thank them for their service!

*Information about Trike-a-Thon will go home today in your child's folder.  This event will be held on Friday, November 17th.

*School is CLOSED on Friday, November 10th in observance of Veteran's Day.

*We have 2 birthdays this week to celebrate, so happy birthday to Ian and Avenir!

Academics this week:

In reading, we will combine a science unit with reading as we study about animals and their habitats.  We will begin writing complete sentences using capitalization and punctuation as we journal write.  We will complete our math unit on patterns and shapes, have a full review, and have a unit assessment on Thursday.  Things included in this assessment will be 2-D shapes, AB, AAB, and ABB patterns, adding on to patterns, and writing the numbers 1-10.  In social studies, we will begin learning about pilgrim children.  We will spend time comparing and contrasting pilgrim children with children of today and we will learn why the pilgrims came to America.  We will use a globe to learn where the pilgrims came from as well.  in Bible, we will learn about the Battle of Jericho and our character development theme this week is trust.

Our sight words for the week are: he, for

Our blends ladder for the week is for the letters /Pp/ and /Bb/.

Our letter of the week is /Ii/.

Please make sure your are having your children complete homework packs and studying sight words and blends.  Blends assessments are given one week after they are assigned (every Monday).  This allows a full week to learn them.

Thank you everyone and I pray blessings on your week!
