Dear Kindergarten Families,
We have lots going on this week. Here are our announcements:
*Candy Cane Shoppe-Your child will have an opportunity to browse the Candy Cane Shoppe and make a list of things he/she would like to purchase as gifts for others. You will find this list in your child's folder on Monday. You may send in money in the envelope attached to the list for your child to shop. Shopping times are from 12:00-1:30 and from 3:00-5:00. Most items are priced under $10.00.
There will NOT be a homework pack this week. Instead, I want your child to focus on the cumalative sight word list that went home last week. That test will be on Thursday. I am also sending this week's reader booklet. Please make sure your child read that daily. I will also do a reading assessment on Friday morning using this booklet.
*Our class party is on Friday from 12:45-2:45. Our room mom has activities planned for the children. If you would like to send in in any treats or goodies, you are welcome to do so. Just let me know what you would like to send in. This is optional, of course. I know some families enjoy sending in treats and we are always grateful for that. I will provide anything else needed. :)
Academics:
Our letters for the week are /Dd/ and /Kk/. There are no new sight words. We will be working on parts of speech this week in language, as well as adding to our list of consonant/consonant blends with /w/ blends. We will continue to practice our digraph sounds as well. Reading fluency with cvc words is something we are working towards as we will be adding in long vowel words with blends after Christmas. In math, we will learn about estimation, fewer, and more this week. In social studies, we are learning about George Washington as both a general and first president. We are also continuing our unit on Christmas Around the World with Sweden and Germany. In Bible, we are learning about the birth of Jesus and the annoucement of His birth to the shepherds.
Have a blessed week everyone! :)
