Good evening everyone! I pray your long weekend was filled with fun and blessings! Here are this week's announcements:

*Since we are starting school on a Tuesday, we will not have a sight word list this week. Homework packs will still go home tomorrow, but they will be a bit shorter.

*We are still collecting donations for our class bird bath project. I am very excited that we were offered a week stay at Trevor's grandparents' mountain cabin in Tennessee as our class "big" contribution to the silent auction! How wonderful!

*Just a reminder that the zoo field trip is coming up next week on April 11th. I believe we have most everything we need from parents at this point, but we are still needing your driver's license and insurance information for our records if you are driving. Please send in a photo copy of each or stop by the office and they will make copies for you.

*I sent home some Bible verses with some children last week to practice at home. These are for our upcoming chapel in May. I will also be sending home parts for speaking to some children who do not have Bible verses. These children will be sharing a speaking part with partners from first grade. Those parts will go home this week. They do not need to memorize them at this point but rather just practice saying them so they are familiar with the words. We will also practice in class.

*An April calendar will go home tomorrow.

Academics:

In language, we will practice writing sentences with question marks and begin learning three letter consonant blends. In reading, we will further explore cause and effect relationships and review sequencing of events. We will also be emphasizing reading with expression and working on speed and fluency this week in oral reading time. Please have your children read out loud nightly the little reader books I send home each week. The more they read at home, the better they read in class! In math, we will begin subtracting from the number 10 and work with graphs. In science, we will continue with our biology unit as we explore the habitats of reptiles and amphibians. In Bible, we will continue our story of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior as we learn about how Jesus appeared to His disciples. Our memory verse for the week is: We believe that Jesus died and rose again. 1 Thessalonians 4:14.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
