Hello Kindergarten Families,
Here are this week's announcements and activities:
*REMINDER: School will be CLOSED next Wednesday through Friday, September 26-28th.
*We are having some children not follow uniform policies. Please refer to your handbook if you have any questions about your child's uniform.
*Continue to do those chore charts. I am SUPER proud of all the kids in my class who have done them. What a great cause they are working for!
*Reader books are going home in the homework packs today. There will be a handwritten note that goes home with these, along with the number of your child's assigned reading group. Level 1 is the highest group, Level 2 in the middle, and Level 3 the lower group. Your child may advance up quickly, depending on home practice with the readers and how well they test on oral reading. Reader books need to be practiced weekly as part of homework.
This week in academics:
In reading/language/phonics, we will be adding the R and S blend ladders to our curriculum. The kids are doing very well with these! We will complete our author study of Eric Carle and will begin a unit on Johnny Appleseed. We are learning about sequencing of events in a story. In math, we are learning about pairs, shapes, and color words. In science, we will learn about the parts of an apple. We will spend the week learning about Johnny Appleseed in social studies. In Bible, we will begin a unit on Abraham. Our sight words for the week are: is, have, be.
Have a blessed week everyone!
