Good morning K Families! Hope you are staying warm this beautiful morning! We have a lot coming up in the next week (including an event I forgot to include on our calendar), so here's the scoop for the next 7 days:
*Friday is our 100th day of school! A flyer went home Friday explaining our 100th day dress-up. Your child can dress up like he/she is 100 years old. What fun! Be creative. They can wear clothes and accessories, if they choose. This is entirely optional. I addition, I will be sending home a LARGE ziploc bag tomorrow. You will need to fill it with exactly 100 items that will fit inside the bag. These items can be candy, coins, trinket items, stickers, or anything that would be fun for a kindergarten kid. ALL food items must be individually wrapped. We will be dividing out the 100 items each child brings in among all the children so that each child takes home a bag of an assortment of items. It is truly one of the funnest days we have all year, so again, be creative! We will be having special activities in the gym with some of the other elementary classes on Friday morning. I will send home more info on that when we nail down a time.
*Friday is our Winter Sports Pep Rally. We hope you will attend! Our cheerleaders will be performing and our mascot will be on hand. Pep Rally starts at 9:15 in the gym.
*NEXT Monday is our Winter Fun Day. We will be drinking hot chocolate and cookies and making snow friends. I will need each parent to send in $2.00 to help cover the cost of the snow friends. I will be purchasing socks and batting. I already have the other materials I need. I will cover the cost of the food. My treat! We will need some volunteers for our snow friend-making. This is a fun activity but definitely requires adult help with hot glue guns involved. We will begin after we come in from playground and have Bible, roughly around 1:00.
Academics:
This week, we will work with sentence structure and learn new special sounds in phonics. We will be learning about past and present and how technology has changed over the years (spoiler alert, your child will learn what a corded phone is lol!). We will study tens and ones and addition partners in math. In Bible, we will continue our study of the life of Jesus as we learn how He chose His disciples. In Science, we get to learn all about germs. We will do an experiment using bread to gain an understanding of how our hands contain germs and we will journal our results. We will have lots of 100 day activities in math, reading, language, and writing as well. I am giving a break on sight words this week due to our short week and special activities on Friday. Our Bible memory verse is: Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice! Philippians 4:4. Please make sure your children are learning these verses. They get graded on them. Have a blessed week in the Lord! Mrs. Tracy
