*Information for a fundraiser for diabetes went home yesterday (it's the shoe!). Please help us out with this very important cause. Juvenile diabetes affects one of our own beloved teacher's children and this is a charity that is close to our hearts. Children just need to collect coins and there will be a contest for a class to win an ice cream party!
Lutheran Schools Week kicks off with a special church service in the gym this Sunday at 10:45. All of elementary will be performing a song. Here is the info for that:
Lutheran Schools Week is quickly approaching, and every year students are invited to sing during our church service to kick-off the week's activities. I know some of you have other church homes, but on Sunday, March 3rd, we would like to ask that students in grades PreK-6th attend Grace Lutheran Church, share their talents, and be "connected" to others at the 10:45am service. This late service is being moved to the gym to accommodate the larger crowd. 7th and 8th grade choir and handbells only will be at the early service.
*We need volunteers! Here is the information regarding volunteering for our field day next Tuesday: I need 3-4 volunteers for each session, one from 9:50-11:15 and the other from 12:05-12:30. Of course, parents and family members are welcome to help any time during the day!

*THIS Friday, March 1st, is our monthly dress-down day. Please bring $3.00 for this. I am encouraging my kids to wear Dr. Seuss themed clothing (think Cindy Lou Who or Fox in Sox). :)
*Show-n-tell is Dr. Seuss theme for Friday.
This week in academics:
We will get into suffixes and when to use them properly in language. Phonics will focus on special sounds from the orange chart. I will be sending that home for your child to practice with. Our sight words are: soon, that, they, and because. We will spend time this week reading Dr. Seuss classics and working with rhyming patterns and prediction. We will do some special Dr. Seuss activities, including making Ooblek in science/STEM. We will also learn about dental health. In math, we will work with subtraction up to 10 and with teen numbers addition. We will also review continuing patterns. In Bible, we will continue learning stories of the ministry and of Jesus and the miracles and healing He performed by hearing the story of Jesus healing 10 men.
Our Bible verse is: A friend loves at all times, Proverbs 17:17.
Have a blessed week everyone! Much love!
Mrs. Tracy
