Students in grades 2nd – 8th will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test starting Monday, April 16th and continuing throughout the week. At Grace we administer the SAT because a national norm-referenced standardized test can be one of many useful tools used to evaluate student progress and our curriculum, as well as make changes to ensure that each child can maximize his or her God given potential. It’s important to remember that at Grace Lutheran School we do not “teach to the test,” meaning that there may be content on the SAT tests that was not covered, or covered in only a limited fashion, in the classroom.
You do not need to do anything special to prepare your child for SAT testing. Simply make sure your child gets adequate rest the night before, and eats a healthy breakfast in the morning. Remember not to overemphasize the importance of this testing to your child; that will only create unnecessary anxiety that will interfere with his/her success.
If you have questions about SAT testing, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s teacher at your convenience.
